The South Korean is a pioneer. He is the first Korean ever to win a tournament on the PGA TOUR (2002 Compaq Classic of New Orleans) and the very first Asian to win on the PGA European Tour (2003 Linde German Masters). Choi, who was a competitive weightlifter before turning to golf and has the nickname "The Tank", is in great form. This year's triumph at the Sony Open continued an impressive run on the US PGA Tour: he has claimed at least one tournament victory in each of the last four seasons of the US professional series.
