The Spaniard was something of a child prodigy: he started playing golf at the age of three, made his first cut at a European Tour tournament at just 14, and was the youngest player in the history of the Ryder Cup when he made his debut as a 19-year-old. However, he is yet to be crowned king: Garcia has not yet won a Major, finishing as runner-up on three occasions – most recently at the 2008 PGA Championship. In the first of this season's play-offs, Garcia, who had previously won THE PLAYERS Championship this year, once again had to settle for second place after losing in a play-off.
