In 1997, the American narrowly failed to achieve what Padraig Harrington managed this season: victory at the British Open and the PGA Championship. Leonard was just 25 when he won "The Open" and finished second at the PGA Championship. This year Leonard took victory at the Stanford St. Jude Championship, the twelfth TOUR title of his career. More good performances during the regular season, and a seventh place at The Barclays, have put him in a good position for the remaining play-offs.
