In ‘real’ life Weir is a right-hander; however on the golf course he prefers to play left-handed. This distinction does not, though, handicap his ultra-successful style: In 2003 Weir achieved the high point of his career by winning the Masters title – the first Canadian to achieve this success, and only the third left-handed player in the history of the sport to do so. The 38-year-old has thus joined the illustrious company of Bob Charles and Phil Mickelson. This year Weir achieved major successes in the Memorial Tournament presented by Morgan Stanley, and in the second Play-off tournament, the Deutsche Bank Championship, by finishing second in both instances.
