Playoffs begin with surprise victory.
He would have been an unlikelz bet before the start of the tournament: Heath Slocum won The Barclays, the first play-off tournament for the 2009 FedExCup. The American finished the 72 holes of the National Liberty Golf Club on the outskirts of New York with a one-shot lead over his flight partner and compatriot Steve Stricker, as well as Tiger Woods (USA), Ernie Els (South Africa) and Padraig Harrington (Ireland).

First title for Nathan Green.
Nathan Green succeeded at his 112th attempt: On Monday the Australian won the RBC Canadian Open, thereby taking his first US PGA Tour title after winning a play-off against South Africa’s Retief Goosen. Due to heavy rain, the tournament, supported by BMW as Official Car Partner, was contested over five days.

Thongchai Jaidee crowns comeback with play-off victory.
Thongchai Jaidee from Thailand came through a play-off against Spain’s Gonzalo Fernandez-Castaño and local favourite Kan Sung-Hoon to win the weekend’s Ballantine’s Championship at the Pinx Golf Club (Jeju Island, South Korea). Jaidee birdied the first extra hole to secure victory at the tournament, which is supported by BMW as Official Car Partner.

First win for Michael Hoey.
Michael Hoey only secured his card for the European Tour at qualifying school in November. Less than half a year later the Northern Irishman can celebrate his first tournament victory. The 30-year-old defeated Spain’s Gonazalo Fernandez-Castaño on the third play-off whole to win the Estoril Open de Portugal. BMW is Official Car Partner for the tournament, which boasts prize money of 1,261,205 Euros.

The youngest winner ever.
This weekend, the European Tour stopped in Australia – and in the event, the Johnnie Walker Classic, history was made: the tournament was won by New Zealand’s amateur Danny Lee who made it to the record books as youngest European Tour winner of all times. Meanwhile, Phil Mickelson (USA) celebrated his 35th PGA TOUR win.

First tournament victory for McIlroy.
Alongside Germany’s Martin Kaymer, 19-year-old Rory McIlroy is currently regarded as one of the most talented young Europeans. On Sunday, the Northern Irishman took another step on the road to a big career, by winning his first tournament on the European Tour. McIlroy broke his duck at the famous Dubai Desert Classic, which featured a high-class field, and at which BMW is the Official Car Partner.

Lin Wen-Tang triumphs in his maiden European Tour event.
What an appearance of Lin Wen-Tang: this weekend's UBS Hong Kong Open represented the very first European Tour event contested by the pro from Taiwan. And in the end, he won the tournament at which BMW is involved in as 'Official Car Partner' in the playoff - inter alia by a truly magic shot.

Alvaro Quiros holds his nerve.
Victory was by no means in the bag as Alvaro Quiros stepped up to the first tee on the final day of the Portugal Masters at the Oceânico Victoria Golf Course. After three rounds the Spaniard lay just one shot ahead of the leader of the European Order of Merit, Robert Karlsson, and Englishman Ross Fisher. However, Quiros kept his cool at the tournament, which is supported by BMW as the Official Car Partner, to win the highest prize money of his career to date.

Singh and Villegas victorious.
Although it was already clear before THE TOUR Championship that Vijay Singh would be crowned FedExCup champion, the fourth and final play-off event of the season delivered an intoxicating tournament. Camilo Villegas followed up his victory at the BMW Championship by claiming victory at the season's finale. Meanwhile, Sergio Garcia further enhanced his reputation as the "eternal runner-up".

Decision put off until last moment.
The KLM Open in Zandvoort, Holland, ended with a dominant victory for Northern Ireland's Darren Clarke. The winner of the 2008 BMW Asian Open ended the tournament on 16 under par, well clear of Irishman Paul McGinley (-12) and Sweden's Henrik Stenson (-11). BMW is the Official Car Partner for the tournament, which has failed to clear up any doubts about the final places on the European Ryder Cup team.

Martina Eberl wins the BMW Ladies Italian Open.
Martina Eberl is the new name to be inscribed in the BMW Ladies Italian Open roll of honor. The German golfer, age 27, won by a five-stroke margin (275 stokes) the twenty-first edition of the BMW Ladies Italian Open and the 60,000 euros in prize money. The tournament was played at the spectacular Argentario Golf Resort & Spa.

Just days before the British Open gets underway at Royal Birkdale Ulsterman Graeme McDowell carded a final round of 68 (-3 for the day) to claim victory at the picturesque Loch Lomond Golf Club in Scotland. BMW is the Official Car Partner for the Barclays Scottish Open.

Woods wins with Kaymer finishing runner-up.
Finishing runner-up can represent a bitter disappointment in sports. Still, finishing second yesterday, in the Dubai Desert Classic, was just the opposite for Martin Kaymer. And not only as Tiger Woods was the only pro to beat the young German. The tournament BMW has been the ‘Official Car Partner’ of for many years featured an absolute top-class field and the world’s top ranked professional needed a 65-round to prevail on the final day.

Dream car for dream round.
With a sensational 61-stroke final round, Adam Scott secured the win in the Commercialbank Qatar Masters. The Australian completed the event with a total result of 268 (20 under par) and at the end of the day, he came into the clubhouse with a three-stroke lead over second placed Henrik Stenson (Sweden).
